Let’s see, let me give you an update on what has been happening in the Dobbelaere house.
Chad, along with his brother-in-law Keith and friend Mike, put up a pull down stair for the attic in our garage this past weekend. It took all day, but the space is great. Not only did they put in the stairs, but they also placed plywood in the attic to hold the storage. We spent some time on Sunday already filling it up. It’s amazing what you acquire, especially with 2 infants!!!
Kendall continues to go through physical therapy for her Torticollis. We are seeing a huge difference in her. She now looks more to her left. We are to continue to do her exercises at home to stretch those muscles. Now, they also want us to work on strengthening those muscles as well. Given the fact that she did have Torticollis, the back right side of her head is fairly flat. When looking at her head, it is quite noticeable. Because of this, we will have her fitted for a Craniocap. This is a helmet that will help round her head, to eliminate the flat spot. She will wear the cap 23 hours a day, for 2-3 months. We have our first appointment on June 10th to have her head scanned, so they can make her Craniocap.
Other than the Craniocap, Kendall is doing great. She definitely is our emotional baby. We laugh at how easily she gets upset, to how easily the tears can stop and you see a HUGE smile. It amazes me!
Sydney is doing equally amazing. She still continues to spit-up, but the amount and the number of times a day has decreased significantly. She is definitely our calm child. You hardly ever hear a peep from her as she is so content. She is going through a stage, however, of needing to see us at all times. It’s as though she needs to know she is not alone. We have some concerns with Sydney’s head as well. She has a little flatness on the square of the back of her head. I’ve noticed it has gotten better in the last couple months. But we have a call into the doctor on her for him to review his notes. We figure if we have to go through this with Kendall, if Sydney needs it as well, we’d rather do it at the same time. Personally I’m thinking no, I think it will get better as she learns to sit.
Both girls are doing very well in their development. Being preemies, we were told that they may be a bit delayed. Based on what I’ve read, they seem to be right on track. They both have rolled over (Kendall more than Sydney). They do great at tummy time, both getting up on their arms and looking around. We have put them both in their excersaucers, which they love. And just last night we put Sydney in a doorway jumper…she loved it! Both girls are eating cereal twice a day (lunch and dinner) and at dinner they receive baby food. We have gone through veggies and just started fruits…so far so good. Kendall started off eating the baby food like a champ, but has since not had as much interest in it as Sydney. But I think both girls are starting to teeth, so her feeding may be off a bit.
It’s funny how you, as a parent, changes. When Chad and I get home from work, it’s all about the girls. Feeding, bathing, changing diapers, and playing with them. We may have the TV on in the background, but what we are watching…I couldn’t tell you. I was talking to my hair stylus yesterday; she has a baby that is 2 months younger than the girls. Her baby spits-up all the time as well. We were talking about how in the beginning we were so careful of getting spit-up on their clothes and ours. And if we did get it on us, we’d change. Now we are like, oh well…so what if we smell!
The girls have their 6 month pictures this Sunday…I cannot wait to see how they turn out!!! Kendall gets fitted for her Caniocap next Tuesday. And next Thursday both girls have their 6 month check-ups. Besides the shots, it will be fun to see where they are at as far as height, weight and development.
