Kendall had her first physical therapy session on Thursday. Daddy was with her during the appointment. The Therapist did indicate that she could already see a difference in Kendall. She is looking more to the left and is able to look further than she did before. Chad and I have also notice a difference in the last week or so. She also rolls all the time to her left...then of course she cries because she is stuck face down, with her arm stuck under her. One day she will figure it out!
Chad and I do need to determine if we want her to wear the helmet. The right side of her head is still very flat and is very noticeable. Unfortunately our society is very much stuck on appearance. I would hate for her to have a lopsided head and have other kids make fun of her for it. I have to remember she may want short hair, pony tails or whatever. We'll keep you posted on what we finally do decide. This will be soon, as they would like to have the helmet on her around 6 months of age.
First Camping Trip

Friend Tracy Lee, Sydney and our pop-upThe girls had their first camping experience this past weekend. We had a large group of people going with us. There were the Lee’s, Smith’s, Cole’s, Angie & Rylee and Amy. We also had a few visitors…Vowel’s and Levy’s.
Chad and I were so ready to get out and get our new pop-up a test. Chad decided to take the day off and headed to the campground around noon. By the time the girls and I got there, it was all set up and we could just enjoy ourselves.
The weather was windy and a bit on the cooler side all weekend. But we just bundled the girls up and they seemed to do just fine. The rain stayed away until Saturday night about 11pm. It rained most of that night. But during the day, no rain was heard off. Sunday afternoon the clouds disappeared, the sun came out and we all put on our shorts. I even stripped the girls down to their onies.
We had a great weekend with family and friends. Our next trip is planned for July 4th, hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer. Overall, the girls adapted well and will just become better campers as we go more.
Sydney's Roll
As I mentioned in another blog, it seems as though Sydney waits for her sister to take the first step. If it looks like Kendall survived, then Sydney gives it a try. On Sunday after almost everyone left, Sydney decided it was her turn to roll over. Auntie Missy and Uncle Deven were there to witness the big event as well. We had her on the floor on a blanket. I had a toy in my hand and in order for her to see it; she needed to roll to her side. I kept the toy far from her, hoping she’d roll. She’d start to go, making some grunting noises, then fall to her back. She’d try it again, but just couldn’t quite get there. Then finally, she made it…she rolled over to her belly.
Soon she and her sister will be crawling…how excited and how exhausting (for mom and dad that is)!

Baptism
The girls were baptized on Sunday May 18th. The morning started of good, with both girls sleeping through the 11am mass…thanks to Auntie Tricia and Uncle JR (they were holding them and rocked them both to sleep). The Baptism was right after the 11am mass. We took many photos before hand, which the girls did wonderfully at. Then it was time for the Baptism. The Deacon that performed the mass was another story. He was a very nice man, but older and hard of hearing. He first said our last name wrong, which didn’t bother us as we are use to that. When we corrected him, he must not have heard us and said it wrong again. Then he called Kendall, Kenny. We corrected him, but I don’t know if he heard us. The funny pronunciation was of another family. He called their son Randy Travis, the kids name was Brady Thompson. Oh well, at least my girls were being baptized.

Finally we had Grandma Shelley mix a bottle for us. This calmed her. Like Chad and I said, it wouldn’t be a good event unless she was screaming. She is such a Drama Queen.

Chad and I have been trying to figure out when to visit the hospital, so the nurses could see the girls, when we got an invite to visit them. The Special Care Nursery just recently moved into a new location and were now located on the first floor in an old IcU. The location is great. The old location was very small and you had absolutely no privacy. This new location is HUGE and since it use to be an IcU there were separate rooms for all. At the most, there would only be 2 babies to a room. This would have been great for Chad and I with the girls, as we would have had our own room. And now that the unit is larger and there are separate rooms, the hospital can now call it a NICU and take on more children. And they could take children with more health concerns as well.
It was a lot of fun to see some of the nurses that cared for our girls. When we walked in, they all remembered us and were so excited to see the girls. They could not believe how good they looked and how much they have grown. We had them in identical clothes that day…we don’t do this very much. The shirts they had on were given to us by my co-worker, they read “if you think I’m cute you should see my twin.” The nurses could not stop talking about these shirts…they loved them, so thanks Julie they were a hit!
We also got a chance to see a family that was there at the same time as the girls. Their son, Freddy, was born on the same day. Freddy had a heart problem and was going to undergo open heart surgery. Freddy looked amazing. He was finally able to go home in early March. He is still on a feeding tube about half of the day and receives the bottle for the other half. But he is doing amazing. By seeing Freddy and talking to his parents, it made me realize how lucky Chad and I are to have such healthy girls. Not only was this family dealing with not having their child at home with them for so long, their son having open heart surgery, but his mom was also hospitalized a week before she gave birth. This has been a very long process for them. But to see the joy on their faces with how well he is doing, made all that sadness go away. We wish them well.
The morning at Fairview Ridges was a lot of fun. When we pulled into the parking lot, Chad looked at me and said, this sure brings back memories. And it did…but all in all, the girls were in GREAT hands when they were patients.

Roll Over Please...
The girls have been rolling to their sides for quite some time now. Chad and I have been waiting for them to roll over all the way. Last night Chad and I were standing in the kitchen while the girls were hanging out in the living room. At one point I looked over and saw Kendall face down. I looked at Chad and screamed...Kendall rolled over. We both rushed over and were telling her how proud we were of her. Then of course, she wouldn't do it again. But now that she knows how to do it, I'm sure we'll see it soon!
Sydney was also hanging out, but she'd fallen asleep at this point. As my mom says, Sydney seems to just sit back and let her sister do things first. Then if it looks okay, she'll give it a try. Maybe once she sees Kendall roll over and knows she survived, she'll try as well!

First Mother's Day
First of all, to all you mothers out there…I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! The weather was beautiful, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. My first Mother’s Day was very nice. Chad had the girls sign a card for me. He put a pen in their hand and just held their arm and let them do the rest. Then we spent the rest of the day up in Brooklyn Park at his sister’s house. My mom joined us as well as we spent the day with family. I cannot wait to spend many more Mother's Days with my girls!!!
When Tired, Thou Shall Sleep:
Do you ever wish you could just sleep where ever and when ever? Well my girls don’t have any problems with that! This is probably a good thing; hopefully they continue to be like that. We got a couple super cute pics of Sydney sleeping in her exersaucer, on two separate occasions.
We Finally Have A Deck!!!
That’s right, we have a deck. We’ve been in our house for 2 years 9 months and I have been dying to get a deck put on. It turned out very nice and is a pretty good size deck, so we can have many gatherings on it. Here’s a pic…
Girl's Heads
Well the girls just had their appointment for their heads. Here’s the low-down:
Sydney is just fine. He said that she had some flatness on the back, but as he said, nothing to be concerned about. And also said over time it should heal.
Kendall on the other hand has Torticollis. For those of you who don’t know what Torticollis is…a condition that causes a baby’s head and neck to tilt to one side. Reason, there is some tightness in one of the two strap muscles that connect the breastbone, head and neck and allow the baby to turn her neck. Most likely with both girls in my uterus, there just wasn’t a ton of room, so Kendall ’s head was tilted too much.
Torticollis is something that can be corrected with stretching and physical therapy. Right after our appointment with the doctor, we met with a Physical Therapist who showed us some stretching techniques that we need to do each day. 2 of which Kendall will absolutely hate…we need to do 2 stretches where you hold each one for 1 straight minute. Chad and I will need to be more aware of what we are doing when handling Kendall . Such as when she is on the floor to force her to look to the left, put nothing on her right. When she goes down for a nap or bed, turn her head to the right.
Kendall will have physical therapy once a week for 4 weeks, then once every 2 weeks for a month or two. Then once a month until they feel it’s corrected.
As for the flat spot on Kendall , that is a decision that Chad and I need to make. The therapist said her spot was very minimal and it could possible change in the next month. With her being a girl, you shouldn’t notice it as much as you would with a boy. So I think we will keep an eye on her this next month and see what we want to do.
So we now have a child with acid reflux/spitting up and a child with Toricollis. When you look at the grand scheme of things, this isn’t all that bad. There are many children out there with much more severe issues, we are still very fortunate.

Let's Try Cereal Again...
Kendall has been getting up in the middle of the night for a few nights now. Being a child that has slept all night long for quite some time, I found this to be odd. We’d let her cry a while, before jumping to her crib…but she didn’t stop. At first I thought it was because she was sick the week before and was just use to us getting up in the middle of the night. But we give her a bottle and she’d drink the whole thing in less than 10 minutes. This told me she was hungry.
I’ve heard from a few people that we should wait until they are closer to 6 months, to help prevent them from getting allergies. But after talking to many other moms, researching the web and talking to my pediatrician, we determined the girls are ready. They are hungry and not getting enough with just formula.
So last night we put the girls in their highchairs, bibs on and started the process again. Kendall absolutely loved it. She took it immediately and kept taking it. Sydney on the other hand make some funny faces and wasn’t too sure about it. I didn’t push it with her, but will continue to try.
Since Sydney was not all that interested, I started to give her a bath while Chad continued to feed Kendall. When I was done with Syd’s bath, I went to get Kendall…so she could take a bath as well. I came out to the kitchen and couldn’t believe what I saw. The kid was a total mess, but she was happy. Chad then informed me that not only did she eat her portion of her oatmeal, but also Sydney’s portion, then he gave her some squash. As Chad said “I think Kendall is like Mikey, she’ll eat anything.” I wish I would have taken a picture, she was smiling from ear to ear and had food every where. It was as though she was saying…”Dude…that stuff rocks.” I did tell daddy that when he feeds the girls, he needs to strip them down to their diapers. She had food on her arms, legs, hair and not to mention her clothes. Let’s just hope Shout can take it out.

A Sunny Weekend...Finally!!!
After mom and the girls sick all week, things were not looking up for us on Saturday. The girls still had stuffy noses; mom was still congested and started having problems with her sinuses. And dad woke up, not feeling all to well either. We were suppose to go to our niece’s birthday party, but opted to stay home. Instead, mom and dad did some things around the house. We got the playroom all set up for the girls…for that day when they start actually playing with toys. Then took it easy for the rest of the day…we need to kick this cold.
On Sunday, Grandma Shelley came over to help watch the girls so mom and dad could get some stuff done outside. It’s amazing how difficult it is to get everything completed with 2 little girls. By having Grandma Shelley there, we were able to prepare the pop-up for the summer and get the garage all cleaned out. We are starting to get exciting about camping this year. I cannot wait to share it with our girls…we only hope they love it as much as mommy and daddy.
Grandma had a great time with the girls. She was able to take them for a walk, and while doing so acquired a double swing that hangs from your deck. That’s right, Grandma comes walking up the driveway, pushing a double stroller, and carrying a green swing. Last fall I was out walking one day when a lady and her 2 kids stopped to say hi. She asked how far I was and I told her I was having twins. Well…she recognized the twins and was at one of the neighbors house that had twins girls (they are 3 now). The lady stopped my mom and said; oh I have something for them…and came out with this double swing. How cool is that!!! I’ll have to take the girls for a walk so I can hopefully run into her and thank her myself. Just goes to show you how nice people really are!
Kendall is full of smiles all the time. And she gives the best smiles. Her whole body crunches up, her eyes squint and her smile is as big as they come. She can make a crappy day into a GREAT day with those smiles of her. Sydney is a bit more reserved. But Grandma Shelley can make her giggle and throw her head back. It is the cutest thing ever. She let’s out this little squeal as she throws her head back. I LOVE IT!!!
