No, I Can Feed Myself!!!
When Sydney sees her bottle she wants it. She’ll cry or crawl to it as fast as she can. The other night Chad put her bottle on the living room floor, Sydney was in the kitchen, and when she saw it she took off. She went right to her bottle and tried to start sucking on it. Not realizing that it would be easier for her to drink it if she was lying on her back. So Chad flipped her to her back and she went to town all on her own!
Now we just need to get Kendall to do this and we will be good to go. I’ve tried a couple times and she won’t have anything to do with it. Too funny how different they are!

Freedom for Kendall
No more helmet for Kendall. Tuesday August 26th was the last day for it. YEAH!!! I cannot believe how well her head has rounded out. The technician gave us this foam head of her, which they used to make the helmet. When comparing that to her current head was amazing. I am so glad we decided to move forward with the helmet. And we only had to wear it for 9 weeks, that’s pretty good! She has one more Physical Therapy session in September. If she does well during this session, we may be done with that as well.

As for Kendall being on the move, not as much as her sister. If we put her on her belly and entice her to get something, she’ll eventually make her way there. She’d rather scoot back or roll to where ever she may want to go. She has just recently started sitting on her own. It’s funny to watch her sit. She puts her hands on her legs as to steady herself. And if she reaches for a toy, she goes very slowly as she doesn’t want to tip. And if she gets sick of sitting and cannot figure out how to fall to her side, she sits there and cries until you move her. Such a drama queen!

Sydney has been crawling every where. When you walk around the house, you have to look down to make sure you are not stepping on any little people. The other day she decided it would be fun to crawl under the kitchen table and couldn’t get out. See the pics below…

Kendall Is On The Move
Kendall crawled for the first time last night. Chad had some toys in his hand and she decided to take a few steps. But it was so cute. She’d crawl a couple steps, and then put her head down like she needed a break. I caught it on video, so it will be fun to share with her one day!!!
We also ended up bringing her in to the Ped’s office. She has been pulling at her left ear again, and she has another ear infection in it. Not as bad this time. So she is back on meds. They did weigh her while at her appointment and she came in at 18 pounds, 12 ounces. I’m thinking Sydney is around 16 pounds.

First Girl's Weekend
Daddy was on a “guy’s weekend” in Michigan…attending a NASCAR event. So it was just us girls. At first I had no idea what we would do, but then got an email from Tracy Lee asking if me and the girls would like to head up to her parents seasonal for the weekend, and have ourselves a “girls weekend.” What a great idea…Tracy, her daughter Madison, me and the girls…this would be fun.
We had a wonderful weekend. Couldn’t have asked for better weather!!! Tracy’s parents have just recently bought a new trailer on a new spot. Because of this, they still have their old trailer (which was just recently purchased, but would not be used until next year), and we were able to make ourselves comfortable in the old trailer. This worked out great for the 5 of us.
We spent the days on the lake (Fish Trap Lake in Cushing, MN). Taking the pontoon over to an island and beaching it so we could swim and just take it easy. I had brought a couple floats for the girls to use in the lake. So I’d strip them down, naked, and set them in the floats. Kendall fell in love with it. She’s lay back and just float around. It was super cute. Sydney wanted nothing to do with it. She’d cry every time I’d set her in the float. Sydney was fine with sitting in Madison’s little camping chair in the water. I think because only her legs hit the water…and every so often I’d splash some water. We did have a little mishap however on the chair. Yup, Syd decided to relieve herself and left a little surprise for us. It was too funny. Tracy cleaned it off, but then little miss Madison had to make sure it was clean herself. So she took her chair and washed it off herself…too funny!!!
At night we hung out at Tracy’s parent’s camper. They have a really nice deck and patio. The girls loved the fire so much, they slept!
We had a wonderful weekend, but it also reminded me that I’m glad I’m not a single mom. 2 babies that are very much dependent on you, is hard. I think I’d rather have a toddler and a baby…at least the toddler can do something on their own. But we handled it well and with a little help from Tracy and her parents, we did just fine. Plus the girls are pretty easy going…so that helps too!!!
Thanks Lee’s and Tigue’s for a FUN weekend!!! We’ll make sure to pay a visit next summer…if you’ll have us. But I warn you, I might have to bring Chad :-)

Another First
Kendall has her first tooth!!! She was a little fussy last night when taking her bedtime feeding. I was thinking her gums may hurt, as I know she must be teething. Well at one point when she was crying I looked down and saw something white. And yup, after feeling her lower gums, she has a tooth that has broken the skin. One down and many more to go!!!
I don't see anything on Sydney yet. But the way she is drooling and chewing on things, I wouldn't be surprise to see something soon!

8 Months Old...
Happy 8 month birthday!!! Can you believe it, they are getting soooo big. How they have developed in these 8 months is amazing!!!
Feeding:
Both girls are eating stage 2 baby food twice a day, they only take 4 bottles a day (use to be 8), they are attempting to drink from a sippy cup and trying to feed themselves with biter bisquits. Both girls have the ability to take the bottle and put it to their mouth. They have not quite figured out how to hold the bottle on their own for the entire feeding.
Talking:
Sydney has become more vocal over time and just recently started saying Dada. It is the cutest thing. For some strange reason she is most vocal when on her changing table. I’ll be changing her and she’ll be laughing and saying dada over and over. At first I was like, no say mama. Then people informed me, no dadda is better. When she says it that means she wants dada. This comes in super handy when I’m trying to sleep in a bit longer…now I just need to get dada on board with this theory!
Kendall hasn’t taken to speaking like Sydney. She’d rather scream as hard as she can. It is funny. She’ll be on the floor playing with a toy and yelling out…I think she likes to see how loud she can get. And just recently she started making these weird noises…almost like a growl. Our daycare calls it the E.T. sound.
Moving:
Kendall has been getting from place to place by rolling every where. And man, can she roll, with speed too. She’s pretty smart about it too. When she comes to a road block, she usually figures out how to maneuver around it. There are times we have to help her out as she as rolled herself into a corner. The baby gate had to go up as she has come close to the stairs when on the roll. She also gets up on her hands and knees and will rock. She hasn’t figure out how to go forward, but she can scoot herself backwards.
Sydney doesn’t roll as much as Kendall, but will roll in order to get a toy. She has been getting up on her hands and knees for some time now. Just this past weekend, she crawled about 2 steps for Grandma Karen and me. Then just last night, she crawled across the living room floor. Chad was on the floor and had a pen and paper in his hand, she wanted it. So he continued to urge her on and she did it. I quickly grabbed the video camera and got it on tape.
Both girls love to stand, feeling like BIG girls. Kendall loves to jump and will bounce all day long if you allowed her. Kendall also has her right foot always moving. She can be on her back playing with a toy, but that foot is just kicking away. I bet she’ll go straight to standing.
Personalities:
Although they might be twins, they sure don’t look it or act like it. They are 2 very different girls from appearance to attitude…which I love.
Kendall would rather be left alone, playing and rolling on the floor. She could care less who holds her or who she plays with. She usually will put on a show for people with her HUGE smile. She can go from smiling to crying in less than 2 seconds. It’s sooo funny. She will definitely be our more independent child and I’m thinking our child who takes risks!

She does have a tendency to cry when she doesn’t recognize someone, needing mommy or daddy to calm her down. She is always looking for Kendall, making sure she is close by. And she is definitely our observer, checking out everything to see what it does or how it works. She will be our clingy child, needing mommy or daddy to hold or comfort her.
Both girls have great laughs and if you tickle them just right, you can get them to giggle from the gut that will have you smiling from ear to ear.

Our First Road Trip…With The Girls:
With daycare closed on August 1st, we decided to load up the car and head to Wisconsin to pay a visit to Grandpa Mike and Grandma Elaine. Chad and I were a bit nervous on how the girls would do in the car…it’s a 5 hour car ride. Since we were planning on leaving Thursday right after work, I asked Erin to not give the girls a nap that day. She was successful, with the help of a couple girls in the daycare. This helped a ton, as the girls slept about half way there. We then stopped so Chad and I could grab a quick bite to eat and gave the girls a bottle. They did get a little fussy, mostly due to boredom, but luckily I brought our DVD player. All I can say is Baby Einstein, you are the BEST!!! The girls watched almost an hour of these before they fell back to sleep. The ride home went just as well, as we left right at nap time.
While in Wisconsin, the girls received lots of hugs and kisses from their grandparents. We visited Grandpa’s new place of work and did some site seeing of the area. One day we went to a local park and let the girls swing a bit…check out the pics.
The visit was nice…it’s nice to have them closer. We will be able to see them more often and they’ll be able to see the girls grow up. And now that we know the girls can handle the car ride, it makes visiting that much more hopeful!!! As they say, start them young so they learn now!!!
