Who Did It???
We don’t have daycare today, so Chad stayed home with the girls in the morning and I’ll was with them in the afternoon.
Chad called to tell me a funny story. The girls were playing in the living room, Chad had gone into the bed room for something and when he came out he saw that one of the girls had spit up. So he asked the girls…”which one of you spit up?” Sydney lifted her arm and pointed to Kendall. Chad said it was the really funny, almost like she knew what she was doing. The best part is, Kendall was the one who spit up!
As many of you know, Sydney has always spit up for us. In the beginning it was a lot but over time it has decreased. She still spits up, but nothing like she use to. Hopefully it will disappear all together very soon!

Another Tuesday Morning...
I received a call this morning from Chad on his way in that made me laugh. First let me know explain. I leave the house before the girls are even getting up, allowing me to leave early in the afternoon to pick them up. This means Chad is on morning duty with the girls. He gets them up, dresses them and gets them to daycare. And as those who know Chad, he has a routine. He first dresses Kendall (and yes I usually pull out clothes the night before), then puts her back in the crib. Then he gets Sydney dressed and brings her down to the entryway. This morning as Chad was dressing Kendall, he heard Sydney making noises in her crib, so he turned around and found her standing and shaking the bars of the crib. And of course she was smiling! Note to us, we have to lower the crib again. We’ve done it once, but we need to lower even more!!! I hope that crib can handle a rough kid!
For those of you who don’t know, we live in a split level home. In the entryway, we have a gate set up for the stairs that lead to the basement, to prevent the girls from taking a tumble. As I mentioned above, after Chad dresses Sydney he brings her down to the entryway. He will set her on the floor (rug) and goes up to grab Kendall from her crib. This probably takes less than a minute, but a lot can happen in less than a minute. When Chad came back to the entryway, he caught Sydney shaking the gate that leads to the basement...hope it can hold her. Then as he was putting Kendall in the car, Sydney decides to try and climb up the stairs. Do we now need to get a gate for the stairs leading up as well…or maybe we just need to be quicker!
Then on the way to daycare, it starts to down pour…HARD. So here is Chad at daycare, bringing both girls in one by one. By the time he got back in the car, he was soaked. Just think, snow is on its way!!!
Not only does Sydney get into EVERYTHING, but she is definitely our risk taker. She will climb, crawl, and grab at anything. She will stand on the floor hanging on to something with one hand, and then smile at us like…wow, I’m so big!!! She will then fall, make her pout face, Chad and I play it off like it’s no big deal, and she’s back at it again. Don’t even get me started on how she has to steal everything her sister has. If Kendall is playing with something, Sydney will crawl across the floor to steal it. I now know why kids’ first word is “no”…we say it enough!
When the girls were born, we said from the beginning that Kendall will be our handful; we’ll have to keep an eye on her. Well, I guess we were wrong. Sydney will be the one that our eyes will not leave. Sydney is still the more laid back child, but she has no fear. Kendall on the other hand may be a bit needier, but she is definitely not a risk taker like her sister.

Sydney's First Tooth
Yup, that's right...Sydney now has her first tooth that has broken the skin. You can only see the tip of it, but I'm sure it will be visible very soon! She has been chewing on things like crazy the last couple weeks, especially in that spot. I guess we now know why! YEAH!!!
9 Month Appointment

Dr. Westlund was very happy with how the girls were doing. They are both sitting up on their own and crawling. At times they crawl in different directions, but most times they follow each other around. Or if one is playing with something, the other goes over and tries to steal it. It’s fun to watch them interact with each other. They will look at each other and giggle…they definitely understand that they have a sister there. They both also understand their names too.
I’ve kind of given up on the jarred baby food with them. We just recently moved to Stage 3, which has chunks of food in it. I don’t think the girls really care for the taste. Instead, I’ve been giving them table food. We may have some frozen veggies that I’ve nuked in the microwave, sliced cheese, cottage cheese, fruit, toast…they seem to like it all. They are both getting really good at using a sippy cup, hopefully in December we can start replacing one of their bottles with a sippy cup. Then by the first of the year, they will no longer take bottles, but will take a sippy cup instead. And the sippy cup will be filled with Whole Milk come the first of the year as well…YEAH no more formula!!!
Sydney is going to be my risk taker. She has learned to pull herself up to a standing position and to climb on top of things. Kendall is so cute, she hasn’t quite done those things yet, but loves to watch her sister and laugh. She’ll throw her head back and just giggle at her.
I cannot get Sydney to stay on my lap very long as she has to be off exploring. Try reading to her and good luck. Kendall loves to read and will sit on my lap all night.
Both girls are doing very well. Kendall did take a step back with her Torticollis however. When she started crawling she started tilting her head again. She has great rotation and strength, it’s just a matter of reminder her that she can keep her head straight. So we do a couple exercises with her and she may have to go through 1 or 2 more physical therapy sessions. Nothing to bad, just a little reminder.

A Party with Grandma Shelley
As you know from reading our blog, Chad and I headed to Michigan this past weekend for a wedding. We had a great time…it felt good to let lose. And it was nice to only worry about me for a couple days and to sleep in tell 8. But I missed the girls something crazy. I thought of them each day and wondered how they were. I missed giving them hugs, kisses and cuddling. But, they were getting plenty of this from Grandma Shelley.
Grandma had a full weekend with them. She decided to give them a little 9 month birthday party on Friday.
She had a sign all made up….

And let them get all messy by eating popsicles…
Sounds like they had a blast celebrating…from what I hear she had both girls giggling a lot.
Then on Saturday night my Grandpa from Nebraska was in town, so she loaded up the girls and headed to Joe Senser’s as a bunch of family members were watching the Nebraska Husker’s. My grandpa enjoyed seeing the girls as did everyone else. From what I hear, he fell in love with Kendall’s smile and loved how Sydney was just so laid back. My cousin, Gabe, had Sydney cheering for the Husker’s by the end of the night.
I’m sure by Sunday night, Grandma was exhausted. You don’t realize how much work it takes…most of it enjoyable…but still a lot. Thanks Grandma Shelley for hanging out with girls!!!

9 Months Old This Friday 9/12/08
The girls are ¾ of the way to being a year old…CRAZY!!! We won’t be with the girls on Friday to celebrate their 9 month birthday, matter of fact we’ll be out of town for 4 days. Grandma Shelley is watching the girls for us, so we can attend a wedding in Michigan. We are excited about the wedding, having some fun and getting to sleep in a bit…but I’m already missing the girls and I haven’t even left yet. I know it will be good for them and us, but it will be hard.
Here’s an update on them. Both girls are crawling around and getting into everything. We have to keep an eye on Sydney as she has even tried climbing up on things. They are starting to mimic us…if we make a noise, they make the same noise. If we wave at them, they wave. If we clap our hands, they clap their hands. It’s a lot of fun. They are starting to eat chunkier solids, including some table food like cheese, yogurt, bread, etc. We are working on having them feed themselves finger foods. Sydney’s got it down pretty good, though at times the food will fall from her hands before it hits her mouth. Kendall hasn’t quite figured out that she needs to put it to her mouth, but she’ll get there. They are both using the sippy cup at lunch and dinner and do pretty well with it.
Our favorite time of night is right before bed. Whether it’s a bath night or just time to put on their pj’s, all 4 of us go into their bedroom to get them ready. Daddy usually lies down on the floor and plays with each of them as mommy changes their sister. Then we all get on the floor and play. Sydney is usually playing with their step stools (on the top of the stools is a puzzle with their name). She will take the pieces out, chew on them, bang them together then she tries to climb up the stool. Kendall is usually going after their stuffed animals and dolls or their books. We love just laying there watching them explore and play. It’s probably the most peaceful part of our entire day!

Dobbelaere Household Update
This being our first weekend not having any pre-made plans, ended up filling up quickly. Just in the last couple weeks, we have decided that with all the camping we do in a year that we should maybe invest in a seasonal. After spending some time with the Krattenmakers in Richmond at their seasonal site, we decided to start looking for a travel trailer that would be large enough for us to use as a seasonal. Well, we saw one posted and decided to haul the pop-up out to Paynesville this past Saturday and check it out. It was exactly what we wanted. It has a queen bedroom as you enter, a slide-out that pushes the couch and dinette table out, a full kitchen, a full bathroom (sink, toilet, shower/tub) and a back bedroom which has a bunk bed and a dinette table that makes to a bed. It was exactly what we wanted and was in good condition…so we purchased it (traded in the pop-up) and put money down on a seasonal site as well.
Next year, you may not see the Dobbelaere’s much on summer weekends, as well be heading to our seasonal every weekend! We are so excited!!! It will be nice to just pack clothes and some food, as everything else will be up there. And when we get there, no time is wasted on setting up…we just unlock the door.

The location is on the Horse Shoe chain of lakes (series of lakes connected together). The location also has a restaurant/bar and an indoor pool. Labor Day 2008
We spent Labor Day at Lake Miltona, which is up by Alexandria, with a bunch of friends. We had a very nice time…it helps that the weather was good! This may be our last trip with the pop-up as we are strongly considering doing a seasonal for next year. We enjoy camping so much and want the girls to experience it…that we decided it may be worth our money to invest in something like this. Our hope was to get out and camp 2 to 3 times a month next summer, now we can go every weekend if we want to. Best of all, we only need to pack some food and clothes…talk about a time saver!!! Back to Labor Day, the best part of the whole weekend is, we did not have to pack food. Our friend, Angie, offered to buy all the food for everyone (we all paid her for it of course), that was a HUGE lifesaver. She did a great job…we ate very well!!!

Sydney, not so excited about the water…so I didn’t get any cute pics of her in the water. But I have attached a cute pic of her in on a chair at Fish Lake. We were at Fish Lake a few weekends ago with Tracy and Madison:
Instead, Sydney loved crawling around everywhere. Her hands, knees and socks were black…but she had fun!!!
Our friends, the Coles, brought their dog for the weekend which brought many smiles to our girls’ faces. Every time that dog came near, they would smile from ear to ear. They really loved all the kisses that she gave them, as they’d giggled when getting them.
It was a great weekend for the end of summer. Since then the weather has been much cooler, high 60’s/low 70’s. Maybe we’ll get some warmth before the snow comes?!?!?
Hope you all had a wonderful summer, as we did. The girls made our summer so much enjoyable. We are very excited about next year, as they will be older and can enjoy a bit more of the camping life!
