High in the Sky (9.25.2011)

A story told by Daddy:

When I took the girls to the park yesterday, there was another girl pushing Kendall on the swing. Kendall asked her to push high in the sky. Somehow they were talking about God being high in the sky.

Kendall then said: “God lives high in the sky, right next to SantaClause!!”

The other mom and I looked at each other and just started laughing.

Halloween at the Camper (9.17.11)

The witches were out and about as the campground brought in the fall celebration of Halloween. To bad these witches were to dang cute to be scary! With a load, and I mean a load of candy, a ride on the hayride and a costume contest to boot...they sure did have fun!

The Last Days of Summer (9.11.11)

What an absolutely beautiful weekend!!!! 80's, sun, blue sky...who wouldn't want to take FULL advantage of this!!! We spent as much time on the lake, enjoying the water and the sun. This may be it...as in two days the temps are to drop into the 50's and 60's.

Thank you Mother Nature for one last gorgeous weekend!!!!

Our New Toy (9.2.2011)

In order for us to enjoy this even more (map of the Horseshoe Chain of Lake...where our seasonal is)...

We decided to get this:

We cannot wait to test out our new toy more next summer. We spend many HOT afternoons out on the lakes...cooling down. We are looking forward to a summer on the lake next year!

Just Being Cute (8.27.11)

Christmas in July 2011

Santa decided to make another visit to Cozy Corners this summer. The girls sat in awe as he entered the bar/grill. We did find out that Ms. Clause shaves Santa's hair during the summer (due to heat) when Santa's hair fell off his head!!! Hee hee

Kendall was not to sure of Santa...but allowed me to walk her over to him:

Sydney loved seeing Santa and was full of smiles:

Do Kids Ever Get Cheaper???

Yes, that is the question? And I think I know the answer!

The girls had their 2nd dental appointment today and did awesome. As of today they are doing great and the teeth look good. For the future, well that may be a different story.

Sydney has very tight teeth and when the big dogs come in, well...she won't have room. So that means removing and most likely braces. Can you say cha-ching! She still does not have her two year molars...ahhh Syd, you are almost 4?!?!?!

Kendall has well spaced teeth and all of her molars are in. However, she has an over bite. This means we will need to do some fixin for that.

We have a few years before anything drastic needs to be done...but I have a feeling the old pocket book may get yet another beating! Oh well, so is life! At least the girls got to walk away with a new toothbrush (oh get this, they were sitting in separate chairs, with a chair between them and they still picked the same type of toothbrush but in different colors...must be a twin thing), new toothpaste, new floss and a toy from the goody box. So in their eyes, they hit gold!

The Lake is Closed

Well that is what we told the girls at least. With all the rain that Minnesota has receive this crazy summer, the chain of lakes where we have our seasonal was on an emergency "no wake" zone. This meant if you did take out your boat, you might as well use an oar.

The water level was unabelievable. Because the water was so high:

  • boats were drifting off their lifts

  • docks were so far under water, boats were on top of the docks

  • boat launches...well there were none

  • roads were closed

  • home/cabin owners were taking their docks out of the water in order to save them

  • if I were to walk on our dock, the water level would have been up to my knees at least

    • The water level made history, the chain of lakes has never ALL been under an emergency "no wake" zone. We hope the water level drops for the upcoming weekend so we can enjoy some fun in the sun.

Since we could not get out on the boat, the girls enjoyed some time at the campground pool...and they even started swimming/jumping on their own. Mom and Dad no longer need to be in the water with them...YEAH!!!

      Then there was Kendall

And then what's a sister to do without her sister

      Finally....(6.4.11)

Finally...the boat has been launched. June 4th, yes June 4th, and we are just now getting the boat in the water. This spring has not been to warm nor boat worthy. Each week the girls beg to ride the boat and each week our answer was, "sorry, but it's raining and cold." We were finally able to say to "yes."

We had an awesome weekend up at the lake. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the tempature was perfect. Although we didn't take a dip in the lake, it was still great to finally take a boat ride.

It finally feels as though the seasonal is open. Summer, watch out here come the Dobbelaere's!
